BURMAH-YUNNAN frontier.

Your telegram No. 198 of the 11th December.

Foreign Office, December 16, 1910.

It is impossible for His Majesty's Government to entertain the idea of a joint delimitation of the frontier unless and until the Chinese Government agree to discuss a settlement on the basis of the line notified to them on the 1st May, 1906.

His Majesty's Government will, however, always be prepared to consider the question of paying compensation to the Chinese Government for the loss of the customary presents and dues from the western side of the proposed frontier line.

There is no intention on the part of His Majesty's Governinent to send troops into the territory upon the Chinese side of the watershed frontier declared in 1906,
